When to Grade and Not to Grade Your Coins

Grading your coins can be an expensive endeavor. Between the grading fees, insuring your package, and sending it registered mail, it could average easily between $60 and $70 per coin.

The grading company could determine that your coin was cleaned, altered, or had environmental damage. If you don’t understand these terms or not familiar with the grading process, ask a numismatic expert for their opinion.

Those above terms means that your coin has a significant reduction in value.

Also, understanding the grading system is important. You certainly would not send a coin in that in its raw condition worth $100, the grading fees were $50 and it grades out to be worth $125 - that’s called economic suicide.
